Local National Guard Notified Of Mobilization

   Local National Guard members have received notification that they are once again being mobilized for active duty.

   The 1/181st Field Artillaery Battalion includes some 540 soldiers from Lawrenceburg, Chattanooga, Dayton, Athens, and Fayetteville.

   According to Tennessee Military Department Spokesperson Nathan Crawford, more than 11,000 Tennessee Army National Guard soldiers have been deployed since September of 2001. More than 3,200 were with the 278th A Regiment in Athens that spent a year in Iraq after being mobilized in 2004.

   Members of the local unit are to report on June 4 and will depart for training soon afterward.
